Jan 23, 2013

9am to 10:10am

On this day I started to read chapter 1 of the book and took a look at some of the projects at the end

Jan 25, 2013

9am - 10:10 On this day and time I worked on building the basic Logic gates for Joe, AND, OR, NOT I am having trouble with some of the syntax and it doesnt seem like I have all the elements of the truth table covered for the AND and OR

Jan 27, 2013

2pm - 4pm On this day and time I reread chapter 1 in the book for reunderstanding of whats going on. I also tried to set up the programs so I could try yo build the gates but was unsuccessful in doing so. I will go in wednesday to see if we can set it up.

Jan 30, 2013

9 - 1010 On this day in time I went into class for help with setting up the program and upon doing this I realized that I only had to click on the .bat file to open up the program, I then tried to implement some of the logic gates in the program but was very unsuccessful on doing so. I reeached out for some help but noone else was working with the book.

Feb 1, 2013

9 - 1010

On this day and time I worked on trying to implement the logic gates once again. I was able to find one of the gates in the book fully done and was hoping that it would shed some light on the others, but it did not. I will continue to read the book but will just work on Joes for the implementation.

Feb 1, 2013

4pm - 6pm

I realized that I did not write the gates in C fully. I was getting mixed up with C and VB syntax, so I had to correct them to C syntax. I build the logic librabry with the gates and will go in for a little help to test them.

feb 4, 2013

1pm - 3pmon this date and time I seeked out help in testing my gates with programs written. the gates are now successful

Feb 6, 2013

9am -1010 am On this date and time I worked on making my xor gate. I was successful in making it in the library file but am having trouble testing it.

feb 7, 2013

2pm - 5pm

on this date and time I was working on building my halfsum, halfcarry, fullsum and fullcarry. I was successful in the lib file but still unsuccessful on getting things to work in a program

Feb 8, 2013

9am - 1010

on this date and time I worked on making a multiplexer in the lib file, was successful on that but need to go in to Joe on help building a program to test all of these functions. will go in tuesday or wednesday to do so

Feb 15, 2013

6pm -9pm

on this day I worked on completing my multiAND and multiOR gates, had to learn the va libraries which was a complete pain and was unable to get it completely working.

Feb 19, 2013

2pm - 4pm

met up with Joe and we worked on finishing my mutiAND and OR gates, I have a better understanding of the library now and slowly progressing the concept of C

Feb 21, 2013

8am to 10am

worked on my multiinput multiplexer and am having a rough time getting it to woirk, I think my code is missing some things, will go inyo tutor ASAP to get some help with this

Feb 25, 2013

went in to get help with andrew from 1 - 2 and he assisted me with completing an RS Nand latch and timed RS nand latch

Feb 29, 2013

2 - 4

on this day I went in with joe and we made an RS latch using classes. I did this because I was having trouble with the outputs with the way that andrew had showed me. He showed me building truth tables

March 3, 2013

5 - 7 pm

On this day I built a timed rs latch using a class

March 6, 2013

5pm - 7pm

on this day I worked on an RSflipflop, I was having a good deal of trouble with the input part of the scope. I cant seem to figure out how to put the 2 clocked latches together. going in for help tomorrow with joe

March 7, YEAR

230 - 4

on this day I went into Joe with the RSflipflop and I was actually closer than I thought with the inputs, I just wasnt getting the parameters correct for the 2 latches. we also started on the JKflipflop

march 15, 2013

2-4

working on the JK flip flop and having some problems with the logic of the final outputs being used as inputs to the circuit. gonna go in with joe for extra help.

march 19, 2013

2-4

on this day I went in with joe and we worked on and completed the JK flip flop.

march 25, 2013

9-12

on this day I worked on a D flipflop and am almost done with it, just having some syntax on the inputs function within the class.

march 30, 2013

1-4

on this day I finished my D flipflop and now am working on a counter, this is a very interesting circuit but very tedious to watch joe test this with a marker on his dry erase board, tangents are so god damn ridiculous haha!!

april 5, 2013

1-4

on this day I worked on building a serial to parallel register, this was actually a really simple circuit, it took a little bit to figure this out but once I saw a good diagram it was just multiple d FlipFlops all feeding their outputs into the input of the next

april 10, 2013

1-4

on this day I worked on the parallel to serial register, it took me a couple of hours to realize that the input to the circuit was just a multiplexer. will have this finished soon

april 18, 2013

2 - 4

on this day I went in to joe, I was having problems with the register, it just was not working correctly and I realized along with joe of course that I was forgetting the clock in the circuit, we fixed it up and it was working correctly!!!

April 25, 2013

1-5

on this day I worked on my RSLatch and which side of the latch the circuit evaluated first and when, 16 if and else statements later and it was done, now on to the braces and the code for the evaluation.

april 28, 2013

Oh my god I am going to pull my hair out!! I am getting errors about braces and when I put one in the error just moves to another place. I give up for now!

may 1, 2013

on this day I finished the RSLatch, but when I run it I am getting and output that is noteven close to what I expect, I am going into joe for help asap

1 - 215

on this day we went over what was expected in class and started on the SDL tutorials to make the pong game. pretty excited about the course and hope I am successful!!

jan 25, 2013

1 - 215

on this day I worked on the second tutorial on the lazy foo website, this was blitting the surface, I am already getting a good understanding of the concept and I am also noticing that that some of the code is the same so I am guessing that these initialize some of the variables and will be soing this throughout the course.

jan 30, 2013

1 - 215

on this day I spent a good deal on lesson 3 of the lazy foo tutorials which is trying to install the extended libraries. At the end of the class I asked you for assistance and then you told me that it was already installed haha, maybe I should have asked to begin with.

feb 4, 2013

on this day I worked on the 4th lesson of tutorials. this was event driven programming. it is confirmed to me that the set up is pretty much the same for all of these tutorials. this was actually a very interesting lesson. I learned quite a bit about events and handles and poll events and am very curious to see how these will be implemented in the pong program.

feb 9, 2013

1 - 4

on this day I worked on lesson 5 which is color keying. I found it very cool that you can put your own images on the screen and manipulate the color schemes. I played around quite a bit with this and found some pretty cool things that you can do with these.

feb 13, 2013

1 - 215

on this day I worked on the 6th lesson for the SDL tutorials. This was clip blitting and sprite sheets. this tutorial helped me with the coordinance so I am hoping this will help with the movement of the paddles and the ball but only time will tell haha.

feb 13, 2013

6 - 8

I continued to work on the same tutorial as earlier and really want to try to drive home each of the tutorials so when it comes time to build the game, there should be little to no problem but I hear and read that collision detection is a beeeeeaaaaaaaaaatccccccchhhhhhh haha!

feb 17, 2013

10am - 12

on this day I learned about true type fonts with tutorial 7 of the SDL tutorials.

feb 25, 2013

on this day I worked on the key presses tutorial for the lazy foo productions, it was pretty straight forward and understood it all

march 2, 2013

12 - 6 pm

on this day I worked on tutorial 9 and 10, the mouse events part seemed a little unnecessary for what we are doing, but it was cool to know lol. the key states were very important though :)

march 12, 2013

on this day I worked on the tutorial playing sounds. I am going to kind of put this on the back burner and try to get it working before even attempting to put any sound to it at the moment

march 21, 2013

12 - 5

on this day I worked on timing and advanced timers. I must have went over it a thousand times and it Is pretty confusing to me!

march 30, 2013

1-4

on this day I worked on the framerate tutorials little confusing but seems to go along with the timer so I think I can make this work but only time will tell!

April 4, 2013

1 - 5

on this day I worked on the motion tutorial. I actually understood this pretty well, it dealt a lot with the collision detection on the edge of the screen and set up the motion of the ball and the rate of movement, it also reiterated key presses so I now have a real good understanding of that!

april 13, 2013

12 -6

oh shit it is here, the infamous collision detection. wow what a pain in the butt matt haha. I can get either one side or the other but not both. I keep trying so many different things and cannot get it to work. when I get it to work on one, I lose it on the other. I am going to come in for help.

April 13, 2013

9 - 1010

went in to get help in the morning and we were unable to it it working this morning, will try again this afternoon.

april 13, 2013

1 - 4

well we worked on this for a while and some very weird things were happening to the collision, we get it on some of the paddle but not the other and we completely have it on one. will try again wednesday

april 15, 2013

on this day we were able to get the collision detection on both of the paddles but when I move my left paddle down and it hits the bottom of the screen, it shrinks, ugh!!!!!!!!!!!!! back to the drawing board

April 17, 2013

went on a SDL forum and asked some question and was able to get help on both the paddle problem and the formula for calculating the movement speed of the ball!!!! oh baby we are getting there!

April 19, 2013

ok my program is running smoothly except for the fact that it sometimes crashes when I score. Presley helped me with debugging and found the problem and helped me fix it!

April 22, 2013

ok the problem is still there with the crashing, I went over it with matt and mike and found out it was the x velocity when the ball was going completely straight and was causing a floating point exception! all set now :)

April 24, 2013

PONG IS DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
