irrsi
- Today we set up irssi in a screen session.
- I don't normally use CLI IRC clients, so it was a new experience to me.
- I am still in the part of the course that is simply reinforcing or going over properly what I'm already comfortable with.
- So far, nothing has been very challenging because of my past knowledge/experience. I suspect that will change soon.

The file system
- In today's class we explored the file system and how to navigate through it.
- While I'm very comfortable navigating around and dealing with files, I've never taken the time to learn exactly what should go where, or what all the abbreviations mean.
- So far, I'm doing pretty well, this is clearly the class for me and I'm sure I'll be enjoying it a lot.
- Nothing particularly challenging yet, but we're now starting to get outside the realm of my comfort zone with redirection and more advanced tricks.

Vim
- Today we learned how to use vim
- It was an interesting experience, having used nano for a couple years it's very difficult to switch to something else, but I'll give it a shot.
- We briefly touched on shell scripting today, which is not something I am very comfortable with yet.
- The Opus is definitely the hardest part of the class, not because it's “hard”, but because I just don't know what to write about sometimes.

Foreground and Background Processes
- In today's class we explored processes and how background and foreground processes work.
- I've never really played with jobs, fg, and bg before, so today was something entirely new.
- Nothing too confusing about processes, they're something I'm pretty comfortable with.
- The labs are very hard to write comments about, but I'll try my best.
