Starting at the cafe you look for the elevators. The closest one is to your left, right by the securty room. You quietly head towards the elevator when you suddenly hear footsteps coming from the security room. You hop into the elevator. You recall that the Hope Diamond is on the second floor, but it is not near the elevators. You could attempt to make it across the second floor without being seen, or you could go to the first floor and cross that floor to get to the elevators that open right next to the diamond.
