Project: Windows 10 Installation

A project for HPC1 by Samantha Smith during the Fall 2016 semester.

Objectives

In this project, I am installing Windows 10 to a desktop computer.

Prerequisites

In order to successfully accomplish/perform this project, the listed resources/experiences need to be consulted/achieved:

Background

State the idea or purpose of the project. What are you attempting to pursue?

Intimately, I am quitting on dealing with free anti virus programs to fix the the endless glitches this desktop has thank to careless web browsing and downloading from others. A fresh install never hurt anyone and I honestly haven't done one in several years. Luckily I will recycle the product key already attached to the computer because Microsoft doesnt need any of my money.

Scope

I am anticipating installing this version of windows with minimal extra features. I assume it should take under 2 hours with a easy setup.

Attributes

State and justify the attributes you'd like to receive upon successful approval and completion of this project.

  • window system practice: I havent done something like this in some time. It'll be a nuce refresher.

Procedure

First, I made a bootable USB drive with a windows 10 ISO, I used these steps in this process. It was a pleasant, new expierence. The last time I did it, ever I used disks.

After accomplishing then, I then plugged in the USB,

hit f11 to change boot order,

went to USB for start up.

Allowed the files to load.

Went through basic time and date options.

Entered my product key.

Chose a custom/advanced install.

Chose a drive to install to.

Reentered the product key

And finally let the installation go-

volia.

Reflection

Comments/thoughts generated through performing the project, observations made, analysis rendered, conclusions wrought. What did you learn from doing this project?

It was a really easy process compared to older versions and time's in life(I mean, where common technology was at that point). I did proudly create a bootable USB from this- which was a literal first. It used to be just on CD's but now USB's are cheap and common. I was pleased with the ease Microsoft has made it now. Next semester I will be doing a linux based install instead. this semester tied me down with windows unfortunately.
