Experience:

2008 - present

  • Maintained home server running a LAMP stack for over 2 years, managing multiple websites, a forum database, and providing security for the system. Recently migrated server offsite due to hardware failure.
  • Self-taught a few programming languages Python, C, C++, UNIX and Linux systems and their maintenance.
  • Used various version control systems to track software changes.
  • Proficient in IRC and related communication infrastructure, providing technical support on a variety of modern Linux installation and operational issues.

2006 - 2008 New York State Office of Parks and Recreation - Newtown Battlefield Park, Elmira NY

  • Managed camping assignments, financial transactions, general maintenance, and park cleanliness and order.
  • Assisted Historical Society in facilitating re-enactment of Battle of Newtown.
  • Booked weddings and other events that utilized the parks facilities.
  • Assisted supervising and creating projects for inmate work crews from NYS Department of Corrections Camp Monterey to complete.

2006 - 2008 - Americorps - Second Place East Homeless Shelter, Elmira NY

  • Completed intake evaluations of incoming residents.
  • Wrote and maintained reports for the NYS Parole Board, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, and Federal Emergency Management Agency.
  • Assisted residents in applying for food stamps, public assistance, and social security.
  • Maintained close relationship with NYSEG to maneuver agency intervention in response to shutoff notices.

2002 - 2004 - Glove House, Inc. Elmira, NY

  • Worked with troubled teens in a group home atmosphere.
  • Assisted with implementing therapeutic treatment plans.
  • Helped residents with homework, interpersonal communication skills, and job seeking.
  • Taught the independent Living Skills Curriculum to the residents.
  • Awarded The Employee of the Quarter Award in 2004.

Activities and Interests:

  • Vice-President of UNIX/Linux for CCC CIST (Corning Information Security Team) Club.
  • The NY Yankees - I go to games as often as I can afford to.
  • I play some guitar, haven't much lately, but been playing for several years.
