Customizing your VIM session
Since we'll be using VIM quite a bit this semester (and hopefully beyond!), we should customize it to make it even more useful than it is already!
Create/Edit your ~/.vimrc file
Open your vim config file:
lab46:~$ vim ~/.vimrc
Enter settings
Here are some good starter settings you may find useful. Use your references to look up what these options do.
set tabstop=4 set shiftwidth=4 syn on set cursorline set number set smartindent
Save and exit when done.
When you next open vim to edit a file, you should notice some differences in both appearance and behavior.
