======Project: Minecraft server configuration======

A project for unix/linux by Robert Lott during the spring 2012

This project was begun on 4/1/12 and is anticipated to take ? weeks.
=====Objectives=====
Correct configuration of a Server setting to support running a minecraft server
=====Prerequisites=====
In order to successfully accomplish/perform this project, the listed resources/experiences need to be consulted/achieved:

  * cd command
  * ls
  * -l argument to ls
  * understanding of paths, absolute and relative

=====Background=====
 propose that by learning what each directory holds will provide better knowledge of UNIX.

  To impliment the the minecraft server jar file through java
  
=====Attributes=====
State and justify the attributes you'd like to receive upon successful approval and completion of this project.

  * files and directories: files and directories are the focus of analysis in this exercise

=====Procedure=====
The actual steps taken to accomplish the project. Include images, code snippets, command-line excerpts; whatever is useful for intuitively communicating important information for accomplishing the project.

  1. update and upgrade the system first 
 
  2. install java from the supplied site: 
  
 http://www.java.com/en/download/help/linux_install.xml&sa=U&ei=ng2gT6acNcqItwevyo3dBA&ved=0CB8QFjAA&usg=AFQjCNGDI4y7Kw6dP4upSBTJL7mFMM4d3 
  
  3. install the minecraft_server.jar file from the the supported site: http://www.minecraft.net/download&sa=U&ei=2Q6gT4rkHYmztwfO_-ncBA&ved=0CB8QFjAA&usg=AFQjCNHiwaNmqoOZfVT1GTLB1qemBKhSGg
  
  4. if no errors the server can be started with the the following command: java -Xmx1024M -Xms1024M -jar minecraft_server.jar nogui. 
=====Reflection=====
This was a easy setup based on the level of difficulty. Most of the time was just reading extra information on the Minecraft site.
Just need to buy a copy to play.
