Ubuntu desktop install maverick 10.10

Physical needs

Step 1- Find a free tower and find a free Hard-Drive make sure to have RAM and the correct data, power, DVI, or VGA cords as well as a Keyboard and mouse. Step 2- find a free work space hook up all the computer correctly and hook it to the network, if using a Pata/EIDE hardrive make sure to put the data cord into the proper master/slave port and make sure there drive is properly notched

Operating Selection and Bios Config

Step 1- on boot up press set up key and go to Drive config and then set primary master drive to auto set intergrated nic/intergrated network card to pixie.lab46.corning-cc.edu/user/USERNAME/portfolio Step 2- when prompted select desktop install i386 unbuntu maverik 10.10

Operating system set up for install

Step 1- press enter till prompted to a window asking to autodected keyboard or not, choose not to and select US Made and US Designed press ok. Step 2- when asked for a proxy HTTP server to connect to leave it blank and press enter. Step 3- you then will be asked about your location and where you want to install and download from with in an area of the world you are then prompted to answer if the the area and time zone is correct. Step 4- you will be prompted to to make a Host name make sure you have one you can remember you then are asked how much of your harddrive you wish to format select all. Step 5- You are then prompted to wait a bit not long then prompted to make a master user and common user name and password make them something you will rememeber. Step 6- then when prompted to install featues choose openfreeserver and Ubuntu by scrolling and selecting with space bar then wait.

Additional Features

Step 1- when completed and you are at a command line press CRTL+ALT+DELETE to restart durring reboot press set up button and go to boot sequence set boot from harddrive to first. Step 2- when finally booted to set up a Remote access point on your desktop open up a web browser and google tightVNC and Download the server client free version Step 3- when downloaded go to applications manager on your system options bar and install VNC Server. Step 4- open up a terminal and log in using your pass word run the VNC server config file set a pass word. Step 5- go to another terminal (i.e. another computer) open a web browser google free web based VNC Viewer and enter the ip and port number of the other computer your trying to remote access enter the passowrd you set for the VNC server and your done.
