======UNIX/Linux Fundamentals Journal====== April 22, 2014 I know that you have missed me so I decided to come back and make a post. I have completed the dataproc project today. It was tons of fun and I wish I could do it again. OK well maybe not. I have also started working on the web pages project. If all goes well I will have that done by the end of this week, and next week I will be working on the eoce. February 25, 2014 I have just completed the puzzle box project. The use of the file command was vital in this process as was the man pages. Once I got through the first few steps the rest went quickly. I have also been working on the urev that was assigned during our break. I have not yet completed all of it but I will soon. February 7, 2014 I think tar works the way it does so that you can easily modify your archives. If you compress an archive then you would have to uncompress it before you could make any changes. With the way tar works you can add, change, or remove files before compressing or submitting them. January 29, 2014 I have completed my resume project that was due today. The wiki text format is different that anything I have used in the past. I used a resume that I created last November for an Internship position. I know that I just used the basic formatting for this project but I was always told that is how a resume should be. I did read the information in the Wiki Syntax link that was provided and there is some really good information in there. I will have to try out some of the other things in it. Overall it was a different experience but not a bad one. January 24, 2014 This week I logged into the lab46 system and created an email account for myself. I also joined the group email. I have never done this on a Unix System so it was a bit different. The overall concept is the same just with different commands. I also set up my OPUS. This is something that I have never done before. It has been a bit challenging to get everything set up and in the right format and place. This page will be used often throughout the semester so it is important to know how you use it. So far all of the things that we have had to do make sense to me. The only challenge that I am currently facing with respects to this course is the lack of Internet access at home and the lack of my smartphone. I hope to at least have my phone back by the middle of next week. I then hope to be able to gain some access to the system from that and be able to do somethings at home.
